Set steps away from the course of the Corfu Trail as it passes through the centre of Vatos village, this one-up, one-down cottage has been re-roofed and partially renovated and is structurally sound. The top floor is currently reached by way of an outside staircase with a fairly spacious ‘bodzo’ balcony, which enjoys a view between neighbouring houses to the valley. In addition, a space of about ten square metres outside the lower floor door is part of the property, and would, with some fixing, make a small outside dining area, with a low bordering wall and possibly a roof.

A very well-stocked village store and the turn-around point for the local bus to Corfu Town are just steps away. The wider Vatos district has two excellent tavernas (one specialising in grills and oven-baked pizza, the other in traditional casserole dishes), both of which can be reached on foot in about ten minutes. Ermones Beach (two good tavernas) can also be reached on foot along a back road, as can the famed Myrtiotissa Beach (nudist warning!). The mountain behind Vatos is a superb area for walking, with amazing footpaths to the summit; and the wider area beyond, accessed along the Corfu Trail, boasts contrasting terrains: bucolic, mountainous and low-lying. Corfu’s only golf course is located below the village on the valley floor (aquatic and avian wildlife abounds) and is easily accessed from the house.

Altogether, the property offers potential for a small holiday home, and/or for rental to walkers, golfers and those who wish to immerse themselves in village life yet enjoy nearby holiday resources.
